7 easy blend seasoning and spices

15/08/2022 by Bridget

7 easy blend seasoning and spices to make today and so easy to do in any kitchen. These are my favorites and I go back to them regularly. All the ingredients are in their dried form.

jars with salt and pepper in them

Please also note that there is no salt or pepper in these blends – I like to leave that up to individual taste. SO – ADD TO TASTE AND DO NOT LEAVE OUT.

As we are all busy with careers, family, sports, or just life in general you will find that if you have these ready to go will help you to make delicious meals very quickly.

Another tip when you assemble your 7 easy blend seasoning and spices multiply out the quantities as to what storage capacity you have.

easy GREEK seasoning blend

  • garlic powder 4T
  • basil 4T
  • oregano 4T
  • thyme 6 t
  • dried parsley 6t
  • dried rosemary 6t
  • nutmeg 3t

I love a greek salad and I make it as often as possible. It is so versatile because you can have it as is or add in chickpeas or chicken to enjoy it as a complete meal.

three jars with nutmeg cinnamon cloves

The secret ingredient here is the addition of nutmeg, it really makes this something so special. Do give it a try

super CHILI spice blend

  • chili 8T
  • cumin 4t
  • coriander 4t
  • cayenne pepper 1t
  • unsweetened cocoa powder 4t
  • garlic powder 2t
  • paprika 4t
  • smoked paprika 4t

There is nothing so easy to put together a beautiful chili. What is so great about the spice blend is that it has the secret ingredient already in the mix. The unsweetened cocoa powder does wonders to the flavor profile. Do give this a try.

jar with chili in it

This can be prepared with meat or you can make it a vegetarian meal as well.

Choose your chili powder wisely. We like things super hot and spicy so we buy extra hot chili. Some of our friends cannot take it super hot, so we adapt and use the non-hot/spicy chili.

our favorite TACO/BURRITO spice combo

  • chili 4T
  • cumin 4T
  • garlic powder 3t
  • cayenne pepper 1t
  • onion powder 3t
  • oregano 1t

Simple, easy, and delicious. If we could eat tacos/burritos every day, we would. Having this TACO/BURRITO spice combo ready all the time guarantees a super flavorful taste every time.

We buy our dried herbs and spices from a local Indian shop. Buying small bottles from our local discount store just doesn’t measure up. Firstly the small glass bottles are expensive and their flavor is mostly bland.

french herb mix in a jar

It is so much better to mix these up at home. It’s really quick and easy to do – give it a try.

Do a little bit of homework, ask around and you will find a good place to find what you need.

ITALIAN herb mix for the win

  • basil 8T
  • oregano 8T
  • rosemary 4T
  • garlic powder 4T
  • thyme 4T
  • onion 1t

This is our go-to for spaghetti bolognese and pizzas. You get to decide how much of this mix to add in. Have fun with that.

For spaghetti bolognese, we like to add these all in when we fry up the onions. This intensifies the flavors and makes it simply delicious. Then we add in the other veggies, the meat, and the tomato paste/sauce or chopped-up tomatoes.

rosemary thyme and oregano in jars

We do not make pizza often enough but when we do this ITALIAN herb mix is our go-to. We mix up tomato paste, ITALIAN herb mix, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Then we let it rest and allow the flavors to develop while we prepare the other ingredients.

When the base is ready, we spread this all over it before adding the toppings. It is absolutely delicious.

CURRY spice blend to give you confidence

  • cumin 4T
  • coriander 4T
  • turmeric 4T
  • ground cardamom 3t
  • cayenne 1t

This is packed with flavor and is not very hot or spicy. I do not compete for this with what my Indian friends can put together but we love the taste of this as a base.

We love simple curry and rice and this makes it possible to do really quickly. A bit of freshly grated ginger, crushed garlic, and some fresh coriander leaves will complete this.

turmeric and paprika in jars

something FRENCH/HERB DE PROVENCE anyone?

  • rosemary 2T
  • marjoram 3T
  • thyme 1/4 cup
  • oregano 1T
  • sage 1T
  • tarragon 1T

This simple combination is easy to use when you want to quickly make a french dressing. It is also absolutely delicious when you add it to some butter and spread it on a baguette, bake it and enjoy.

Something FRENCH can easily be added to a baked or roasted chicken too.

Indian and french spice and herb mix

the additional GARAM MASALA is a must

  • cinnamon 2t
  • nutmeg 1t
  • cloves 1t
  • cardamom 3t
  • coriander 3t
  • turmeric 2t
  • cumin 2t

This is so aromatic that it will elevate the most mundane of dishes. My Indian friends have different combinations of this – and these are well-kept family secrets passed on through the generations.

I love this basic combination and add it to any of my Indian recipes. I do not have enough of those.

If you have a contribution or suggestion to add to these suggestions – please drop me a line in the comments or send me an email.
